With a history extending back over 40 years, El Paso's local rugby team, the Scorpions, are the most successful area rugby team with the most Rio Grande Union Championships. The Scorpions are the current Rio Grande Union Champions having clinched the title by beating the Vatos 45-21, in a tough contested match at Las Vegas, New Mexico in 2013.
In 2013, the Scorpions will have their winning streak on the line in the USA Western Playoffs in April. They will be on the road in Tucson, Arizona fighting to move on to Nationals in San Diego, CA.
